This is the side of an old red barn in Manitoba taken on a warm spring day when the mountains of snow were just beginning to melt.
I loved the faded red paint against the weathered grey wood...and yes, I did redden it up a little in phototshop because I really wanted to bring out the texture of those boards.

This barn has lived an honest life. The wood is weathered and the paint faded. On the prairie, the barn performed its jobs - protection and storage - without complaint. Rugged and honest this structure is!
ReplyDeleteI love old faded barns! Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteGreat old barn. I bet it has seen a lot of history.
ReplyDeleteI love the faded red color. Here in the Philippines, our barns aren't usually painted.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love your shot.
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
ReplyDeleteI've about bored my readers to tears with red barn shots from here in Massachusetts, but they still claim to like them! :)
Sometimes booting the saturation produces a photo which seems truer to the essence of what we saw when we took it, eh?
At least, that's my excuse for playing loose!
And you were right, texture of those boards is fantastic, and the colour is fine. Nice shot!
ReplyDeleteVery intersting shot. Great choice for this meme.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the superman show...lovely color!

Chicken, a perfect Ruby Tuesday shot! Your use of photoshop is quite expert! Thanks for particpating! Happy Ruby Tuesday! :)
ReplyDeleteWe can find its age just looking at the work of the time and weather on it. An authentic Red barn. That's a great shot for today.
ReplyDeleteI started blogging to write but with all the great photo I run across I want to learn more about photography. Interesting photo. HRT
ReplyDeleteI totally like this shot.
ReplyDeleteYou captured the weatheredness of the paint well.
Great atmosphere.
What a beautiful shot! It looks like a building with a story to tell... beautiful even if it's showing signs of age and wear.
ReplyDeleteLoved your shadow shot below... and the out of focus saxophone below that.
Lovely choice for Ruby Tuesday ...
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Red barns rock! I had to put myself on a barn moratorium for awhile because it seemed that was all I was shooting.
ReplyDeleteExcellent pick for Ruby Tuesday!
Oh nice! That's a great old building.
ReplyDeleteLovely post. And good for you for admitting to a bit of Photoshop enhancement. If it's like you saw it, it's "fair," in my book. And thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteI like the look of the the weathered boards. Sometimes a little Photoshop improves the photo to make it look like it really was and not altered by your camera.
ReplyDeleteOld barns always make me want to stop the car and go through them. I want to feel their history.
ReplyDeleteWith it's faded red paint, I think it actually suits the barn :) A washed out look!
ReplyDeleteLove the treatment, and the texture of those boards!
ReplyDelete(Did you "redden" or did you simply saturate?)
Thanks!
